War of the Worlds (2005) review
If you like action, War of the Worlds is a must-see movie. Starring Tom Cruise and Dakota Fanning in this almost 2 hour visual effects-packed science fiction movie, an updated adaptation of the H.G. Wells novel. The movie is directed by Steven Spielberg.
So what’s this movie about? The story evolves around Ray Ferrier (Tom Cruise), an ordinary man, and his daughter Rachel (Dakota Fanning). They have to survive (along with everyone else on this planet) an invasion and attack of the so-called alien Tripods, which can’t be stopped by normal human beings.
Tom Cruise’s actings were pretty good, even if you’re normally not a fan, you will be impressed. Evenmore, Dakota Fanning blew everyone else away. Very talented, and love to see more of her in the future (see recommendations below). I won’t get in to much details, not to give away any spoilers. But aliens (Tripods) taking over the world! Great
Well, it’s not just another Independance Day… although that one had a far better story. As can be expected from Steven Spielberg, the special effects are truly amazing, at some times even frightening and realistic.
Don’t see the movie if you like everything to be explained, since the movie will certainly not. As said, if you like alien blockbusters, go see it at the cinema’s, since it won’t be that much fun and exciting watching it on DVD.
